Pop star won't be giving a repeat performance
Britney Spears' manager has announced that the pop star will not perform at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.
Rumours have abounded that she would give the show another go after her botched "comeback" performance at last year's VMAs. But her manager has put those rumours to rest, stating she's too busy recording her next album.
"Contrary to media reports, Britney was never slated to perform on this year's VMAs," Larry Rudolph of Jive Records said in a statement to the Associated Press. "She's in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well, and her focus remains on the studio."
Spears recently appeared in VMA promos alongside British comedian Russell Brand, who will be hosting the event on September 7 in Los Angeles. In addition, MTV Networks Music Group President Van Toffler said earlier this summer that he would consider giving the songstress another shot at the show.
