Bloc Party producer praises new boy Nick Harrison

Paul Epworth thanks newcomer for tolerating 'my terrible piano playing'

Newcomer Nick Harrison has been praised by Bloc Party producer Paul Epworth for putting up with the knob twiddler's "terrible piano playing".

The Folkestone singer releases new single 'Oi Rude Boy' on August 25, which was produced by the Londoner, who has also worked with the likes of Kate Nash and Babyshambles.

The pair have also worked on an album together, due out in January.

Speaking about their collaboration, Epworth told NME.COM he really enjoyed working on the debut.

"Nick was a dream to work with in the studio and was really fast to come up with hooks, melodies and arrangements on the fly," he explained. "His enthusiasm gave me the room to try some things that I otherwise might not have done. He was even patient with my terrible piano playing!"

Epworth added that Harrison's debut will have a lot of surprising directions.

"We were trying to capture a Joe Jackson-esque feel in places, ELO in others, a bit of Berlin-era Bowie here and the (Toots And The) Maytals there," he said.
